A variety of outdoor ‘rooms’ off the main ornamental walkway surrounds a large theatre lawn within which public events are held. The Friends of Walkden Gardens are helping to restore the gardens to their former glory. The grade II Victorian dovecote which belonged to Sale Old Hall has recently found a new home in the gardens. Sale Old Hall, built in 1603, was demolished in 1930.
